Abstract

The invention relates to a lighting device (10) for a motor vehicle. It is provided that the adjustable light source ( 28 ) emits light radiation via the optical system ( 24 ), which can be adjusted by means of a drive unit ( 26 ). These light rays can be deflected in a predetermined manner in their direction by the adjustable optical system ( 24 ) and in this way couple the light rays into the scattering material ( 14 ). The scattering material ( 14 ) is located in a housing ( 12 ), which has both a reflective subregion ( 20 ) and a non-reflective subregion ( 30 ) as an inner limiting surface. Furthermore, a subregion (16) of the housing (12) is transparent to light rays. At this point, light rays can exit the housing (12). Previously, the light rays were reflected at the reflective partial area ( 20 ). Ultimately, the light design of the lighting device (10) can thus be easily varied in a wide variety of ways.
