Problems solved by technology

However, delivery of menthol via an aerosol generated during use of an aerosol-generating article generally does not adequately deliver menthol when compared to breath freshener products that are inserted directly into the mouth, such as sprays and chewable breath fresheners. delivery to consumers

Embodiment Construction

[0101] figure 1 The illustrated aerosol-generating article 100 according to an embodiment of the invention comprises coaxially aligned adjacent freshener segments 2, a combustible carbonaceous heat source 4 having an upstream end face 6 and an opposing downstream end face 8, an aerosol-generating base Material 10, transfer element 12, aerosol cooling element 14, space 16 and mouthpiece 18. The freshener segment 2 , heat source 4 , aerosol generating substrate 10 , transfer element 12 and aerosol cooling element 14 are wrapped in an outermost wrapper 20 . Such as figure 1 As shown, a line of perforations 22 is provided in the outermost wrapper 20 to enable detachment of the freshener segment from the rest of the aerosol-generating article 100 . This line of perforation 22 surrounds the aerosol-generating article 100 and covers the upstream end face 6 of the heat source 4 . The lines of weakness 22 include microlaser perforated lines.

Abstract

An aerosol-generating article (100) comprises: a combustible heat source (4); an aerosol-generating substrate (10) adjacent the combustible heat source (4); and a freshener segment (2) upstream of theheat source (4) and at least partially covering the upstream end of the combustible heat source (4). The freshener segment (2) comprises a segment of support material (50) having an annular shape defining a channel (52) extending through at least a part of the segment of support material (50) between an upstream end of the segment of support material and a downstream end of the segment of supportmaterial, and at least one freshener delivery element (54) contained within the channel (52) extending through at least a part of the segment of support material (50), wherein the freshener segment (2) is detachable from the combustible heat source (4) to expose the heat source (4) prior to use of the aerosol-generating article (100).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an aerosol-generating article comprising a removable freshener segment. Background technique [0002] Aerosol-generating articles in which an aerosol-generating substrate, such as a tobacco-containing substrate, is heated rather than combusted are known in the art. In one known type of heated aerosol-generating article, the aerosol is generated by transferring heat from a combustible heat source to an aerosol-generating substrate located downstream of the combustible heat source. During use of the aerosol-generating article, volatile compounds are released from the aerosol-generating substrate by heat transfer from a combustible heat source and become entrained in the air inhaled through the aerosol-generating article. As the released compound cools, the compound condenses to form an aerosol. [0003] After consuming such aerosol-generating articles, consumers typically use post-smoking breath fresheners. An example ...
