Benefits of technology

The patent describes improved suspenders that can be used with outer garments. These suspenders have infinite adjustability, meaning they can be adjusted to fits different sizes without needing to add buckles or other objects to the straps. The suspenders also allow the wearer to adjust the front and back for a more comfortable fit. One embodiment for use with pants includes a pair of straps with fasteners at each end, which can easily slide through ring members. Overall, these improvements make the use of suspenders more comfortable and adjustable for different experiences.

Problems solved by technology

This often creates a difficult or awkward situation if the wearers have suspenders under the shirts in the event that the wearers need to use the restroom facilities.
Also, the buckles on the straps which are used to adjust the length of the straps cause unsightly bulges or bumps on the wearer's torso.
This can be unsightly, particularly if the shirts are form fitting.
It also can be difficult to properly adjust the “fit” of the suspenders, particularly if the straps are fixedly secured together in some manner.
Person's torsos, shoulders, waists, etc. are all different and often the suspenders do not fit correctly even with adjustability features at the fasteners.

embodiment 20

[0056]With conventional two-strap pant suspenders, the two straps are sewn or fixedly attached together where they cross in the back, as shown in FIG. 1 at 18 and described above. With some wearers, even the full adjustability at the ends of the straps, as discussed above, does not allow the suspenders to “fit” or be optimally comfortable on their particular body or shape. The embodiment 20 of the invention as shown in FIG. 23 can accomplish this.

[0057]As shown in FIG. 23, the two straps 14′ and 16′ cross in the back of the wearer 52 before they are attached to the waistband 66. As indicated above, the inner surface of each of the straps 14′ and 16′, that is the surface of the straps positioned facing the wearer's body, have small loop members thereon. Preferably, the loop members extend substantially along the entire length of the strap members on that one side. Also, as indicated above, the other sides of the straps, that is the outside facing away from the wearer's body, have a s...

embodiment 50

[0063]FIG. 8 depicts the front view of one such embodiment 50 as worn by a person 52, while FIG. 9 is a side view and FIG. 10 is a back view. FIG. 11 is an enlarged view of a portion 54 of the figure shown in FIG. 9. FIGS. 20-22 illustrate another embodiment of “hip-style” suspenders in accordance with the invention. As indicated in all of the “hip-style” embodiments, only two fasteners are needed, and the fasteners are positioned and adapted to be connected to the waistband of the wearer's pants at the hips of the wearer.

[0064]Referring first to FIGS. 8-11, the suspenders 50 have a pair of strap members 60 and 62. The strap members are connected together where they cross-over each other 64 on the back or rear of the wearer. The strap members can be connected at 64 in any secure way, such as by sewing.

[0065]The strap members 60 and 62 are also attached to each other at a position on the sides of the wearer and adjacent the waistband 66 of the wearer's pants or trousers. This is show...

embodiment 100

[0087]Another embodiment of the “sock-type” suspender 300 is shown in FIGS. 24-25. This embodiment is similar to the sock-type embodiment 100 as discussed above in most respects, but differs in the manner by which the strap members are connected together at the “V”140′ to form the “Y”. This embodiment utilizes the adjustability feature similar to the adjustability feature as set forth above with respect to FIGS. 20-22 and in FIG. 23. A series of hook-type pieces of material 132, or one long piece of material, are positioned on strap member 106′ so that the position of the “V” can be raised or lowered along the side of the wearer to provide the most comfortable fit for the wearer.

Abstract

Suspenders having a pair of strap members particularly for wearing under outer garments. At least one side of each of the strap member has loop members thereon substantially along the entire length which mate with pieces of hook-type material secured on one or more of the strap members. The pair of strap members are connected together to allow fasteners to the wearer's pants. Adjustment buckles are eliminated. The hook-type members at the ends of the strap members adjacent the fasteners provide adjustability. Additional hook-type members are used to allow adjustability at the backs of the wearers.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS[0001]This application is a continuation-in-part of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 13 / 198,469 filed on Aug. 4, 2011, which is a continuation-in-part of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 12 / 872,014 filed on Aug. 31, 2010, now U.S. Pat. No. 8,209,779.TECHNICAL FIELD[0002]The present invention relates to suspenders and more particularly to suspenders designed to be worn under clothing.BACKGROUND[0003]Suspenders used to support pants or trousers on a person's body are in common use today. There are many types of known suspenders and they typically include a pair of straps which fit over the shoulders of the wearer and attach to the waistband of the pants. The pair of straps typically extend vertically on the front torso of the wearer for attachment to the front of the pants, and at least one strap is positioned on the back of the wearer and also is adapted to be connected to the waistband.[0004]The ends of the straps of the suspenders can be attac...
