[0081] Figure 1 A plan view of an antenna structure 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown. Figure 2 A three-dimensional diagram of an antenna structure 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown. Figure 1 , Figure 2The antenna structure 100 can be applied to a mobile device, such as a smart phone, a tablet computer, or a notebook computer. [0082] The feeding radiation portion 110 has a first end 111 and a second end 112, wherein a feeding point FP is located at the first end 111 of the feeding radiation portion 110. The feeding point FP may also be coupled to a signal source 190. For example, the signal source 190 may be a radio frequency (RF) module, which may be used to excite the antenna structure 100. In some embodiments, the feeding radiation portion 110 may be substantially in the shape of a straight strip, but is not limited thereto.
[0083] The connecting radiation portion 120 has a first end 121 and a second end 122, wherein the first end 121 of the connecting radiation portion 120 is coupled to the second end 112 of the feeding radiation portion 110. In some embodiments, the feeding radiation portion 110 and the connecting radiation portion 120 can be arranged substantially on the same dividing line LC, wherein the first radiation portion 130 and the first short-circuit radiation portion 150 can be located on the same side of the dividing line LC (e.g., the right side), and the second radiation portion 140 and the second short-circuit radiation portion 160 can be located on the other side of the dividing line LC (e.g., the left side). It should be understood that the dividing line LC can be a straight line on a plane, but it can also be appropriately bent according to different requirements. In some embodiments, the connecting radiation portion 120 can be substantially in another straight strip shape, but is not limited thereto.
[0084] The first radiating portion 130 has a first end 131 and a second end 132, wherein the first end 131 of the first radiating portion 130 is coupled to the second end 122 of the connecting radiating portion 120, and the second end 132 of the first radiating portion 130 is an open end. In some embodiments, the first radiating portion 130 may be substantially in the shape of a long straight strip, which may be substantially perpendicular to the connecting radiating portion 120, but is not limited thereto.
[0085] The second radiating portion 140 has a first end 141 and a second end 142, wherein the first end 141 of the second radiating portion 140 is coupled to a connection point CP on the connecting radiating portion 120, and the second end 142 of the second radiating portion 140 is an open end. For example, the second end 142 of the second radiating portion 140 and the second end 132 of the first radiating portion 130 may extend in substantially opposite directions and away from each other. In addition, the connection point CP may be adjacent to the second end 122 of the connecting radiating portion 120. In some embodiments, the second radiating portion 140 may be substantially in the shape of a short straight bar, which may be substantially perpendicular to the connecting radiating portion 120 and substantially parallel to the first radiating portion 130, but is not limited thereto. It should be noted that the term "close to" or "adjacent" in this specification may refer to a distance between two corresponding elements being less than a critical distance (e.g., 10 mm or less), but generally does not include a situation where the two corresponding elements are in direct contact with each other (i.e., the aforementioned distance is shortened to 0).
[0086] The first short-circuit radiating portion 150 has a first end 151 and a second end 152, wherein a first grounding point GP1 is located at the first end 151 of the first short-circuit radiating portion 150, and the second end 152 of the first short-circuit radiating portion 150 is coupled to the second end 112 of the feeding radiating portion 110 and the first end 121 of the connecting radiating portion 120. That is, both the feeding radiating portion 110 and the connecting radiating portion 120 can be coupled to the first grounding point GP1 via the first short-circuit radiating portion 150. The first grounding point GP1 can also be coupled to a ground voltage VSS. For example, the ground voltage VSS can be provided by a system ground plane of the antenna structure 100 (not shown). In some embodiments, the first short-circuit radiating portion 150 can be substantially in a shorter L shape, but is not limited thereto.
[0087] The second short-circuit radiation portion 160 has a first end 161 and a second end 162, wherein a second grounding point GP2 is located at the first end 161 of the second short-circuit radiation portion 160, and the second end 162 of the second short-circuit radiation portion 160 is coupled to the second end 122 of the connection radiation portion 120 and the first end 131 of the first radiation portion 130. That is, both the connection radiation portion 120 and the first radiation portion 130 can be coupled to the second grounding point GP2 via the second short-circuit radiation portion 160. The second grounding point GP2 can also be coupled to the ground potential VSS, wherein the second grounding point GP2 can be completely different from the aforementioned first grounding point GP1. In addition, the second short-circuit radiation portion 160 can be adjacent to the second radiation portion 140, wherein a coupling gap GC1 can be formed between the second short-circuit radiation portion 160 and the second radiation portion 140. In some embodiments, the second short-circuit radiation portion 160 can be substantially in a long L-shape, but is not limited thereto.
[0088] For example, the carrier element 170 may be implemented by a nonconductive support element or a speaker element. The feed radiation portion 110, the connection radiation portion 120, the first radiation portion 130, the second radiation portion 140, the first short-circuit radiation portion 150, and the second short-circuit radiation portion 160 may all be distributed on the carrier element 170. In detail, the carrier element 170 has a first surface E1, a second surface E2, and a third surface E3, wherein the third surface E3 and the first surface E1 are opposite to each other, and the second surface E2 is between the first surface E1 and the third surface E3. In some embodiments, both the feed point FP and the first ground point GP1 may be located on the same surface of the carrier element 170 (e.g., the first surface E1), and the second ground point GP2 may be located on another surface of the carrier element 170. The feed radiation portion 110, the second radiation portion 140, and the first short-circuit radiation portion 150 may all be disposed on the first surface E1 of the carrier element 170. The first radiation portion 130 may be disposed on the second surface E2 of the carrier element 170. The connection radiation portion 120 may extend from the first surface E1 of the carrier element 170 to the second surface E2. The second short-circuit radiation portion 160 may extend from the second surface E2 of the carrier element 170 to the third surface E3. In some embodiments, the carrier element 170 may be substantially in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped. It should be noted that the present invention is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the feed radiation portion 110, the connection radiation portion 120, the first radiation portion 130, the second radiation portion 140, the first short-circuit radiation portion 150, and the second short-circuit radiation portion 160 may also be located on different surfaces of the carrier element 170, which may be adjusted according to various design requirements. In other embodiments, at least a portion of the feeding radiation portion 110 and at least a portion of the first short-circuit radiation portion 150 may be located on the same surface of the carrier element 170 (e.g., the first surface E1), and at least a portion of the second short-circuit radiation portion 160 may be located on another surface of the carrier element 170 (i.e., a surface other than the first surface E1).
[0089] It should be understood that although the antenna structure 100 is a three-dimensional antenna structure, the present invention is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the antenna structure 100 may also be changed to a planar antenna structure (eg, Figure 1 In addition, if the carrier element 170 is a speaker element, the aforementioned radiation parts can be distributed on a non-conductive shell of the speaker element, thereby miniaturizing the overall size of the antenna structure 100.
[0090] Figure 3A three-dimensional diagram showing a convertible mobile device 400 according to an embodiment of the present invention operating in a notebook mode is shown. Figure 4 A three-dimensional diagram showing a transformable mobile device 400 according to an embodiment of the present invention operating in tablet mode. Figure 3 , Figure 4 .exist Figure 3 , Figure 4 In the embodiment of the present invention, the deformable mobile device 400 includes an upper cover housing 410, a display frame 420, a keyboard frame 430, a base housing 440, and a hinge element 450, wherein the keyboard frame 430 and the base housing 440 can be made of metal. It should be understood that the upper cover housing 410, the display frame 420, the keyboard frame 430, and the base housing 440 can be respectively equivalent to the so-called "A part", "B part", "C part", and "D part" in the field of notebook computers. By using the hinge element 450, the deformable mobile device 400 can be switched between a notebook mode and a tablet mode. For example, the aforementioned antenna structure 100 can be disposed between the keyboard frame 430 and the base housing 440, but is not limited thereto. In some embodiments, the base housing 440 may further have an antenna window (Antenna Window) (not shown) corresponding to the aforementioned antenna structure 100 , so that the electromagnetic waves of the antenna structure 100 can be transmitted through the antenna window.
[0091] Figure 5 The return loss graph of the antenna structure 100 when the transformable mobile device 400 according to an embodiment of the present invention operates in the notebook mode is shown, wherein the horizontal axis represents the operating frequency (MHz) and the vertical axis represents the return loss (dB). Figure 5 According to the measurement results, the antenna structure 100 can cover a first frequency band FB1, a second frequency band FB2, and a third frequency band FB3. For example, the first frequency band FB1 can be between 2400MHz and 2500MHz, the second frequency band FB2 can be between 5000MHz and 6000MHz, and the third frequency band FB3 can be between 6000MHz and 7800MHz. Therefore, the antenna structure 100 will at least support the broadband operation of the traditional WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) and the new generation Wi-Fi 6E.
[0092] In some embodiments, when the deformable mobile device 400 operates in the notebook mode, the operating principle of the antenna structure 100 can be described as follows. The first short-circuit radiating portion 150, the connecting radiating portion 120, and the first radiating portion 130 can be jointly excited to generate the aforementioned first frequency band FB1. The feeding radiating portion 110, the connecting radiating portion 120, and the second radiating portion 140 can be jointly excited to generate the aforementioned second frequency band FB2. In addition, the second short-circuit radiating portion 160 can be coupled and excited by the second radiating portion 140 to generate the aforementioned third frequency band FB3.
[0093] Figure 6 The graph shows the return loss of the antenna structure 100 when the transformable mobile device 400 according to an embodiment of the present invention operates in the tablet mode, wherein the horizontal axis represents the operating frequency (MHz) and the vertical axis represents the return loss (dB). Figure 6 According to the measurement results, in tablet mode, the antenna structure 100 can also cover a first auxiliary frequency band FA1 and a second auxiliary frequency band FA2. For example, the first auxiliary frequency band FA1 can be between 2300MHz and 2450MHz, and the second auxiliary frequency band FA2 can be between 2450MHz and 2600MHz. It must be noted that when the transformable mobile device 400 switches from notebook mode to tablet mode, the aforementioned first frequency band FB1 of the antenna structure 100 will be replaced by the first auxiliary frequency band FA1 and the second auxiliary frequency band FA2, wherein the combination of the first auxiliary frequency band FA1 and the second auxiliary frequency band FA2 can provide a relatively large low-frequency bandwidth. In addition, the antenna structure 100 will still support the aforementioned second frequency band FB2 and third frequency band FB3.
[0094] In some embodiments, when the deformable mobile device 400 operates in the tablet mode, the operating principle of the antenna structure 100 can be described as follows. The second short-circuit radiating portion 160 and the first radiating portion 130 can jointly excite to generate the aforementioned first auxiliary frequency band FA1. The feed radiating portion 110, the connecting radiating portion 120, and the first radiating portion 130 can jointly excite to generate the aforementioned second auxiliary frequency band FA2. According to actual measurement results, the addition of the second short-circuit radiating portion 160 can simultaneously fine-tune the impedance matching of the first frequency band FB1 (or the first auxiliary frequency band FA1 and the second auxiliary frequency band FA2), the second frequency band FB2, and the third frequency band FB3, so that the antenna structure 100 can provide sufficient operational bandwidth regardless of whether the deformable mobile device 400 operates in the notebook mode or the tablet mode. In other embodiments, the antenna structure 100 can also be used alone, and does not necessarily have to be combined with the deformable mobile device 400.
[0095] In some embodiments, the dimensions of the elements of the antenna structure 100 may be as follows. The total length L1 of the first short-circuit radiating portion 150, the connecting radiating portion 120, and the first radiating portion 130 may be substantially equal to 0.25 times the wavelength (λ / 4) of the first frequency band FB1 of the antenna structure 100. The total length L2 of the feed radiating portion 110, the connecting radiating portion 120, and the second radiating portion 140 may be substantially equal to 0.25 times the wavelength (λ / 4) of the second frequency band FB2 of the antenna structure 100. The length L3 of the second short-circuit radiating portion 160 may be substantially equal to 0.25 times the wavelength (λ / 4) of the first frequency band FB1 of the antenna structure 100. The total length L4 of the second short-circuit radiating portion 160 and the first radiating portion 130 may be substantially equal to 0.25 times the wavelength (λ / 4) of the first auxiliary frequency band FA1 of the antenna structure 100. The total length L5 of the feed radiating portion 110, the connecting radiating portion 120, and the first radiating portion 130 may be substantially equal to 0.25 times the wavelength (λ / 4) of the second auxiliary frequency band FA2 of the antenna structure 100. The width of the coupling gap GC1 may be greater than 0 mm and less than or equal to 3 mm. The above range of element sizes is obtained based on multiple experimental results, which helps to optimize the impedance matching and operating bandwidth of the antenna structure 100, especially when the transformable mobile device 400 operates in both the notebook mode and the tablet mode.
[0096] The following embodiments will introduce different configurations and detailed structural features of the antenna structure 100. It must be understood that these drawings and descriptions are only examples and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.
[0097] Figure 7 A top view of an antenna structure 700 according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown. Figure 7 and Figure 1 Similar. Figure 7 In the embodiment of the present invention, the antenna structure 700 is a planar antenna structure, wherein a carrier element 770 of the antenna structure 700 is implemented by a printed circuit board (PCB). In addition, a second short-circuit radiating portion 760 of the antenna structure 700 has a first end 761 and a second end 762, wherein a second ground point GP2 is located at the first end 761 of the second short-circuit radiating portion 760. Overall, the first ground point GP1 and the second ground point GP2 of the antenna structure 700 may be substantially symmetrical to each other according to the feed radiating portion 110 therebetween. Similarly, the length L6 of the second short-circuit radiating portion 760 may be substantially equal to 0.25 times the wavelength (λ / 4) of the first frequency band FB1 of the antenna structure 700. Figure 7 The remaining features of the antenna structure 700 are the same as Figure 1 The antenna structure 100 is similar, so the two embodiments can achieve similar operating effects.
[0098] The present invention proposes a novel antenna structure. Compared with the conventional design, the present invention has at least the advantages of small size, wide bandwidth, good communication quality, and the ability to be combined with deformable mobile devices with different operation modes, so it is very suitable for application in various communication devices.
[0099] It is worth noting that the above-mentioned element size, element shape, and frequency range are not limiting conditions of the present invention. Antenna designers can adjust these settings according to different needs.
