Embodiment Construction

[0025] figure 1 An SA system 100 is schematically shown having an SA device 102, a proxy IED 104, and a proxy IED 106 acting as a gateway, according to an embodiment of the present invention. Additionally, SA system 100 includes SA device 102 connected to proxy IED 104 and redundant HMI systems 108 and 110 . Agent IEDs 104 and 106 , HMI systems 108 and 110 are all connected by station bus 114 .

[0026] A proxy IED is a device that provides network services to allow SA devices to make indirect connections with other network devices in the SA system 100 . The SA device connects to the proxy IED and can then request information available on another device. In addition, the SA device 102 is a device in the SA system 100 conforming to a communication protocol prior to IEC61850. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the SA device 102 communicates with the proxy IED 104 through a non-IEC61850 protocol such as IEC60870-5-103. The communication between the SA device...

Abstract

The present invention is concerned with substation automation (SA) systems, in particular with a method and system for configuring an International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61850 standard-compliant Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) 104 in SA system 100. Proxy IED 104 is a NCC gateway device enhanced for converting data between non-IEC 61850 and IEC 61850 communication protocols. Proxy IED 104 is configured, based on a set of mappings, which are coded in the SA configuration description (SCD) file. The SCD file includes mappings for data conversion between non- IEC 61850 and IEC 61850 communication protocols.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the field of substation automation (SA) systems with standardized configuration representation. In particular, the invention relates to a method of converting data from a simple protocol to a protocol with standardized application semantics (eg, as defined by IEC61850). The invention proceeds from a method for configuring an intelligent electronic device (IED) according to IEC 61850 as stated in the preamble of claim 1 . Background technique [0002] Substations in high-voltage and medium-voltage power networks include primary equipment such as cables, wires, busbars, switches, power transformers, and instrument transformers, which are usually arranged in switchyards and / or bays. These primary devices are operated in an automatic manner by a Substation Automation (SA) system. In the SA system there are secondary devices which are responsible for protection, control, measurement and monitoring. SA systems include secondary SA...
