Embodiment Construction

[0038] Unless otherwise specified, the same reference numerals are used below for the same or equivalent elements.

[0039] figure 1 An exemplary embodiment of an inventive recognition device 10 for recognizing objects is shown. In this embodiment, the identification device 10 is applied in a hospital. However, the identification device 10 can also be used in other applications or in other environments such as pharmacies.

[0040] The object may be an item, such as a medicine, or it may be a person, such as a patient in a hospital. In the recognition device 10 , objects, such as specific medicines or specific patients, are recognized with previously stored items.

[0041] In principle, the recognition device 10 supports a plurality of different processes for which recognition of objects is necessary or helpful, for example in material management. Processes supported here are, for example, material requirements, demand reports, incoming goods, outgoing goods, returns, annua...

Abstract

The invention relates to a device (10) and an associated method for identifying an object (20) having an article as a function of a detected barcode information of a barcode (30), the object (20) being labeling with the same. A plurality of article numbers are thereby stored in a memory (60) associated with a plurality of articles and a plurality of different article number types. The detected barcode information, according to the invention, is compared to the article numbers stored in the memory (60) as a function of a prescribed sequence of article number types. In case of a match of the detected barcode information to one of the stored article numbers, the object (20) is identified as the article associated with said article number.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a device and a corresponding method for identifying an object as an item on the basis of detected barcode information of a barcode characterizing the object. Background technique [0002] In supply facilities (such as hospitals or pharmacies), a large number of items, such as medicines, etc., in particular medical items and equipment, food or meals are required every day in order to ensure smooth care and supply of patients. Well-organized material management supported by suitable systems is required for this. Scanner-based detection devices are part of these systems with which documents or objects, in particular with a certain identification, such as pharmaceutical packaging, can be detected. A barcode, which is also described as a barcode or barcode, serves as an identification here and can be read by a detection device. [0003] There are various types of barcodes such as EAN8, EAN13, Code 39, Code128 or Interleaved 2 of 5...
