Abstract

The invention relates to a method of changing the state of an electronic device from a first state to a second state, wherein the electronic device comprises an input for interacting with an object. The method comprises the steps of: monitoring at least one sensor having a detection range at least partially disposed near the input; determining whether an object is within the detection range of the sensor; determining a motion characteristic of the object when the object is detected; determining the motion of the object Whether the feature indicates that an object is in a path of contact with the input device, and changes the state of the electronic device from a first state to a second state when the object is in a path of contact with the input device.
