Problems solved by technology

Because of such potential problems, certain premix formulations including two or more active agents may not be suitable because these premix formulations will have fixed ratios of active ingredients that cannot be determined by a health care professional or user. Change
[0008] Additional problems arise where multi-drug combination therapy is required, as many users cannot cope with having to use more than one drug delivery system or necessitate precise calculation of the required dose combination

Abstract

A dispense interface component for use with a drug delivery device is provided. The dispense interface component may include a main body (14), a first piercing portion (1208), a second piercing portion (1212), and a biasing element. The main body is configured for connection to the drug delivery device. The first piercing portion is for piercing a first cartridge (1210) contained within the drug delivery device, and the first piercing portion is connected to the main body. The second piercing portion is for piercing a second cartridge (1214) contained with the drug delivery device, and the second piercing portion is connected to the main body. The at least one biasing element (1216) is operably coupled to the main body, wherein the at least one biasing element is configured to, when the load on the at least one biasing element is less than or equal to a threshold load, bias (i) the first piercing portion away from the first cartridge and (ii) the second piercing portion away from the second cartridge.

Description

technical field [0001] This patent application relates to medical devices and methods for delivering at least two pharmaceutical agents from separate reservoirs using a device having a programmable dose setting mechanism and a single dispense interface. Such pharmaceutical agents may include first and second agents. A single dose setting procedure initiated by the user causes the drug delivery device to calculate a dose of the second drug agent based on the selected therapeutic dose algorithm. This single dose setting procedure initiated by the user may also cause the drug delivery device to calculate the dose of the third drug agent based on a (possibly) different selected therapeutic dose algorithm. Such an algorithm can be selected in advance prior to dose setting or when setting the dose. [0002] The pharmaceutical agent may be contained in two or more reservoirs, containers or packages each containing separate (single drug composition) or premixed (mixed multiple drug ...
