The method comprises the following steps of receiving a first RIP responding message sent by opposite end equipment, then, adding the opposite end equipment as an RIP neighbor, and periodically detecting the neighbor state of the opposite end equipment; adding routing information in the first RIP responding message to a routing table if the detected neighbor state is UP; receiving subsequent RIP responding messages sent by the opposite end equipment, then, determining the detected neighbor state of the opposite end equipment, and adding the routing information in the subsequent RIP responding messages to the routing table if the neighbor state is UP; deleting the routing information of the opposite end equipment in the routing table if the neighbor state is DOWN and the routing information of the opposite end equipment is stored in the routing table.
