Benefits of technology

The technical effect of this patented technology allows for efficient communication between networks by reducing delays caused during updates from one node to another without interrupting any other nodes on that path or causing interruptions when updating routes. This can improve overall performance and efficiency across different types of wireless networking environments such as cellular phone systems (cell phones).

Problems solved by technology

The technical problem addressed in this patented text relating to improving path management systems' ability to detect and respond quickly against link failures or delays associated with route fluctuations during route updating procedures has been identified through researchers studying communication networks over longer periods of time. Current methods are limited because they require periodic broadcastings of updated route tables even if there were no new ones happening after each iteration.

Abstract

The invention provides a BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) routing oscillation suppression method and device. The method comprises the following steps: starting a first routing suppression period cycle; within the cycle of the first route suppression period, multiple suppression periods are calculated, the suppression periods are used for reducing the number of times of sending multiple route update messages by the network equipment, and each route update message publishes the same route; judging whether the network equipment generates routing oscillation in a preset time period or not; if the routing oscillation does not occur, ending the first routing suppression period cycle, and starting a second routing suppression period cycle; if the routing oscillation has occurred, judging whether the duration of the current suppression period is equal to the preset duration of the preset time period or not; and if so, ending the first routing suppression period cycle, and starting the second routing suppression period cycle.
