Abstract

The embodiment of the invention discloses an icon display method and terminal. The icon display method comprises the steps of setting a first area and a second area on a page, wherein when icons in the first area are displayed, icons in the second area are in a hidden state; when a first request for adding an icon in the first area is received, judging whether the number of the icons in the first area reaches a preset threshold value or not; if so, moving at least one icon in the first area into the second area, and moving the icons in the first area within the range of the first area to enable a position requested by the first request to be in an unoccupied state; adding the icon to be added to the position requested by the first request; displaying the icons in the first area. By adopting the icon display method and terminal, desktop icons also can be continuously added when the number of the icons in a desktop launcher at the terminal reaches the maximum number which can be displayed on each page without affecting the display of other icons.
