An anti-virus device for checking and killing viruses in an electronic device comprises a data transmission port and a storage. The data transmission port is used for being connected with another data transmission port of the electronic device so that communication between the anti-virus device and the electronic device is achieved. The storage is used for storing an anti-virus program used for checking and killing viruses. The anti-virus device further comprises a power source, a write switch and a controller; the power source is used for powering the writable switch and the controller; the write switch is used for staying in on and off states in response to a user's operations; the controller is used for controlling the storage to be in a writable mode or a no-write mode correspondingly according to the on and off states of the write switch. When the storage is in the no-write mode, the anti-virus program in the storage is not modifiable and available for use in killing viruses for the electronic device.
