Abstract

The invention provides a fingerprint recognition method and device. The fingerprint recognition method comprises the steps that a fingerprint image to the recognized is obtained, the pixel feature value of a target pixel point in the image is calculated, the pixel feature value, stored in advance, of each pixel point of each registered fingerprint image is obtained, the pixel feature value of the fingerprint image to be recognized is compared with the pixel feature value of each registered fingerprint image, the similarities between the images are obtained, and a fingerprint recognition result is generated according to the similarities, wherein the fingerprint recognition result comprises successive recognition and failed recognition. Compared with the prior art that recognition is conducted through fingerprint minutiae points, the fingerprint recognition method and device utilize the pixel points in the images, more specifically, the similarities between the images are determined through the pixel feature values of the pixel points, and therefore as long as a fingerprint image of a pixel point can be extracted, fingerprint recognition can be conducted under the condition that lines of a fingerprint are destroyed.
