The method comprises the following steps of acquiring unit combination configuration data, wherein the unit combination configuration data comprises load data, power supply data, power grid data, standby unit characteristic data and running characteristic data of unit combination; acquiring a constraint condition of unit combination configuration, wherein the constraint condition comprises starting and stopping characteristic constraint of a power generation set, economic constraint, output constraint of the unit, climbing constraint and power grid safety constraint; building a unit combination configuration model according to unit combination configuration data and the constraint condition of the unit combination configuration; and configuring the unit in a power system according to the unit combination configuration model. By the method, the unit combination is configured by the built unit combination configuration model and the provided unit combination configuration model optimization method, the investment cost and the operation cost of the power system are reduced, the configured unit combination can be self-adaptively adjusted according to the fluctuation of a power grid, and the safety and the stability of power system running are improved.
