Problems solved by technology

[0004] One reason for product loss is because the system is not started in an efficient manner
For example, by filling an empty system in such a way that air is trapped, the product may be affected, and so may the system, with the effect of increased product loss and possible machine failure

Embodiment Construction

[0028] figure 1 Generally shown is an example of a system 100 which is part of a larger system for processing and packaging liquid or semi-liquid food products, such as so called extended shelf life (ESL) milk packaged in carton packs. More specifically, the system 100 shows an inlet 102 for receiving heat-treated product and feeding it to a tank 106 (preferably a closed tank with a cooling system) arranged to hold the product from being recontaminated risks of. Product is fed from tank 106 to fill valve 108 via conduit 107 . Fill valve 108 may direct product to filling machine 110 or to a recovery tank through recovery valve 112 and recovery line 114 , which connects filling valve 108 and recovery valve 112 .

[0029] During setup of the system 100 , product is fed to the tank 106 through the inlet 102 to form a buffer of product in the tank, balancing out slight variations in product flow upstream and downstream of the tank 106 . When a buffer is formed in the tank, the l...

Abstract

A method for filling an empty system with a liquid product is provided. The system comprising an inlet, a first valve, a tank, a first pipe connecting said inlet to said tank forming a first flow path, wherein said first pipe is provided with said first valve such that said first flow path is closed or open, a second pipe connecting said tank to said inlet forming a second flow path, such that said first flow path and said second flow path provide a circulation flow path. The method comprises closing said first valve such that said first flow path is closed, feeding in said liquid product via said inlet such that said second pipe is filled with said liquid product, opening said first valve such that said first flow path is opened, and feeding in said liquid product via said inlet such that said first pipe is filled with said liquid product.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to the field of liquid or semi-liquid food processing systems. More specifically, a method for efficiently filling a system with a liquid product is provided. Background technique [0002] Today, liquid food processing companies around the world are interested in ensuring that the food they are processing is handled in such a way that it is safe to eat. This suggests, for example, that each batch is carefully followed using different kinds of sensors and sophisticated software tools, but also that different parts in a food processing line are designed so that food residues are left from one batch to another The risk is reduced to a very low probability by doing it this way. [0003] Just as food safety is high on the agenda of food processing companies, ensuring product loss is kept to a minimum is one of their top concerns. Since raw materials such as milk or fruit play a significant role in operating costs i...
