Abstract

The invention provides a video or image coding method and related apparatus. The video or image coding method includesthe following steps: receiving a plurality of input pixels in a current block of a current picture; for each candidate coding mode in a coding mode group, calculating weighted distortion of the current block coded by use of each candidat coding mode, wherein the weighted distortion corresponds to a weighted sum of a plurality of distortions of a plurality of color channels of the current block converted by using each color of a group of weighting factors, and the weighting factors are obtained based on color conversion accosiated with corresponding clor space of each coding mode; selecting a target coding mode from a self-coding mode group based on a plurality of cost measurement associated with the plurality of candidate coding modes of the coding mode group, wherein each cost measurement contains weighted distortion of the current block; and using the target coding mode to code the current block. The video or image coding method and related apparatus provided by the invention can effectively compare distortions obtained from different color space.
