Abstract

The present invention provides a search log-based event discovery method and apparatus. The method comprises: obtaining newly added search terms and corresponding search results that are not used forevent discovery in a search log; querying a preset entity dictionary according to the newly added search terms, and obtaining entities included in the newly added search terms; collecting statistics of newly added search terms including the entities to determine whether there is a sudden search term; if so, determining a feature of a sudden search term according to the sudden search term and the search result thereof; and matching the feature of the sudden search term with the feature of each search term in the at least one event corresponding to the entity included in the sudden search term to determine whether there is a new event, wherein the event comprises: each search term in the clusters, the feature of each search term, and description information of the clusters. According to themethod provided by the present invention, event discovery can be performed timely when new data is generated, so that the event discovery efficiency is improved and the event discovery time is shortened.
