The MAC address management method comprises the steps of: updating aMAC address table according to message information carried in a received message, and using current time as a timestamp, and inserting the timestamp into an entry, corresponding to the message, in the MAC address table; performing primary aging processing on the MAC address table according to the timestamp stored in the entry for each entry in the MAC address table when an aging period comes; determining whether to perform secondary aging processing on the MAC address table according to the timestamp stored in the entry when forwarding the message; and if the secondary aging processing is needed, deleting the entry from the MAC address table so as to complete the secondary aging processing, and forwarding the message in a VLAN flooding manner. The problem of forwarding errors caused by not-timely aging processing due to the time interval problem of the aging period is avoided, the error of aging time is reduced, and thus the message forwarding behavior is more accurate.
