The portable washing machine is characterized in that a longitude gear ring and a latitude gear ring are arranged on the outer wall of the clothes washing ball; driving mechanisms are arranged in the shell at the longitude gear ring andthe latitude gear ring respectively; each driving mechanism comprises a driving gear, a cleaning motor, a supporting piece, a rotating shaft and a synchronous motor; each driving gear is in transmission connection with the corresponding cleaning motor; each cleaning motor body is supported on the corresponding supporting piece; each supporting piece is connected to the corresponding rotating shaft; and each rotating shaft is connected to the corresponding synchronous motor. The clothes washing method comprises the following steps of putting clothes, laundry detergent and clear water into theclothes washing ball; alternately running the two cleaning motors, and alternately rotating the clothes washing ball in the longitude direction and the latitude direction; and repeating for the several times, spin-drying the clothes, and taking out the clothes.
