Abstract

A mouse device and method for calibrating sensitivity thereof are provided. The method for calibrating sensitivity includes the following steps: firstly, sampling information is obtained under a test mode; a calibration factor is obtained according to the sampling information and a preset value; the calibration factor can be obtained by dividing the preset value by the resolution; and under a normal mode, an actual count detected by the mouse device is calibrated according to the calibration factor. Whenever the mouse device is moved on the operating surface for a distance, the actual count detected by the mouse device can be calibrated to obtain a calibrated count. The calibrated count can be calculated by multiplying the actual count by the calibration factor. Whenever an operation surface on which a mouse device is placed is changed, a user can easily calibrate the sensitivity of the mouse device and keep the sensitivity of the mouse device substantially the same.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an input device and a method for calibrating its sensitivity, and in particular to a mouse device and a method for calibrating its sensitivity. Background technique [0002] Traditionally, an optical mouse can output movement information to a host in dots per inch (DPI), so that the host can control a cursor displayed on a display device according to the movement information. The DPI value refers to the number of pixels reported from the traditional optical mouse to the host when the traditional optical mouse is moved one inch on the surface. [0003] Due to manufacturing process variations or assembly tolerances, the reported count or DPI value of a traditional optical mouse may deviate from its preset value. Before the traditional optical mouse leaves the factory, it will be calibrated based on the preset value. [0004] However, since a conventional optical mouse may be used on any surface such as a mouse pad, paper, or a t...
