Benefits of technology

The patent describes a technology that allows a mobile communication device, like a phone or tablet, to connect with a wearable defibrillator system either locally or through the internet. This allows the wearer to interact with the system while using their regular clothes and maintaining their privacy. The technology provides a convenient way for people to manage communication tasks related to the wearable defibrillator system while keeping their dignity and privacy.

Problems solved by technology

SCA leads to death very quickly, e.g. within 10 minutes, unless treated in the interim.

Embodiment Construction

[0029]As has been mentioned, the present description is about systems, devices, software and methods for wearable defibrillation systems to perform their communication tasks. Embodiments are now described in more detail.

[0030]FIG. 1 depicts a communication arrangement according to embodiments. A patient 182 wears a wearable external defibrillator system 101, and ordinarily carries a mobile communication device 110 on their person. Patient 182 may also be referred to as wearer 182 since he or she wears system 101, person 182, and user 182 since he or she may use device 110.

[0031]A mobile communication device such as device 110 can be a wireless telephone, a smartphone, a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), a personal electronic device, a pager, a laptop computer, a tablet, an e-reader, and so on. Such mobile communication devices are increasingly becoming more than just wireless voice communication devices. In addition to handling voice data, some mobile communication devices are essen...

Abstract

A mobile communication device such as a smartphone or a tablet-type computer, can establish a local comlink with a wearable defibrillation system. At the same time, the mobile communication device can establish a remote comlink with other devices in a network such as the internet. Accordingly, communication tasks relating to the wearable defibrillation system can be performed via the local and the remote comlinks, with or without the participation of the patient, who is wearing the system. The patient can thus use the familiar interface of a mobile communication device for interacting with his defibrillator system. Moreover, he can do so while keeping on his regular clothes, which could conceal completely the wearable defibrillator system. The patient can thus preserve his dignity and privacy.
