Benefits of technology

The present patent makes it possible to create a hydroflight device that is easy to use and has a wide variety of applications. It offers personal flight experiences with a small learning curve, safely and without fatigue. The device selectably controls a nominal altitude, with the user only needing to orient themselves horizontally. It also provides a variety of movements for different personal flight experiences. The buoyancy elements help keep the device above water, making it easier to board and takeoff. To increase its performance, the device includes an oblong section to prevent any unnecessary loss of thrust. Additionally, a remote pressurization system is provided, which supplies pressurized fluid to the device to reduce the need for an expensive and maintenance-heavy system.

Problems solved by technology

Such balancing may require high levels of dexterity and fine-motor control.
In addition, should the passenger tilt or misdirect the nozzles and start to lose balance, it may be difficult for some passengers to counteract the tilting moment as the tilt angle increases, resulting in unwanted falling.
These combined requirements and circumstances can be physically taxing during use and intimidating to a beginner learning to use the devices.

Embodiment Construction

[0050]The present disclosure provides examples of personal propulsion systems, devices, and methods of use thereof having improved operability and use.

[0051]According to an example of a propulsion device according to the invention, described in connection with FIGS. 1 to 7, such a device 30 has a main body in the form of a platform 31 which only a frame is illustrated on FIGS. 1 to 4. Said armature cooperates with a fairing 31H, as illustrated by way of example in FIGS. 5 to 7. Depending on the size of the platform 31 and the power of the remote pressurization station supplying pressurized fluid to said propulsion device 30, (said station omitted for simplicity in FIGS. 2-7, but represented in FIG. 8), the disclosed devices and systems provide that several passengers U1, U2 can possibly simultaneously ride and / or fly on said device 30. Such a device configuration is illustrated as a non-limiting example in FIG. 7.

[0052]Such a remote pressurization station, referenced 40 in FIG. 8, c...

Abstract

A method of operating a personal propulsion device, including coupling a personal watercraft to a personal propulsion device having a platform configured to support a passenger, wherein the platform is coupled to one or more fluid outlets, and wherein the personal watercraft has first and second fluid discharge ports; delivering a pressurized fluid from the first fluid discharge port to the one or more fluid outlets such that the fluid outlets discharge the pressurized fluid to directly elevate the platform; and discharging pressurized fluid from the second fluid discharge port to move the personal watercraft.
