Abstract

The invention discloses an automatic display brightness adjustment method. The method comprises the following steps: controlling a camera lens of a camera module to move within a focusing range; capturing an image of a user at the camera lens position as soon as the camera lens moves a step; selecting a region on the captured image; carrying out matrix operation on each pixel in the selected region; summing up all results of the matrix operations on pixels in the region to get a definition value of the image; obtaining a curve according to the definition values of various images captured in the focusing range and the corresponding camera lens positions; getting a focal length of the camera lens according to the curve; calculating the distance between the user and a display (i.e., the object distance) according to the obtained focal length of the camera lens; and calculating a brightness value of the display according to the obtained object distance.
