[0026] In the preparation of a typical foam, 100 parts by weight of Hypol FHP 2000, 2001, 3000, 3001, 2002 or 2000HD are mixed with 0.3 to 7 parts by weight of a surfactant or a mixture of surfactants, 2 to 9 parts by weight such as silver sulfate The silver salt and 30-300 parts by weight of water are mixed, and the foaming mixture is cast on the surface. A typical foaming mixture has a cream time of about 20-30 seconds, a rise time of about 60-250 seconds, and a curing time of about 400-800 seconds. Furthermore, suitable cell sizes can vary between 30 and 1000 μm.
[0027] As mentioned above, by applying one or more gel-forming silicone components and curing the applied silicone to form a cross-linked gel, the antimicrobial and hydrophilic polyurethane foam structure of the present invention can be Apply silicone gel to one side. The cross-linked silicone gels suitable for use as coatings for the antimicrobial and hydrophilic polyurethane foams of the present invention are...
Embodiment 1
[0063] Embodiment 1: the preparation of foam structure
[0064]The aqueous phase for the foam making process was prepared by dissolving / dispersing non-ionic surfactant Pluronic F87, silver sulfate and activated carbon. The final concentrations of these components in the aqueous phase were 0.5% (wt) Pluronic F87 and 2.2% (wt) silver sulfate. The concentration of dissolved silver sulfate was 0.8% (wt), and the remaining silver sulfate was dispersed in the aqueous phase.
[0065] Meanwhile, prepare a mold lined with casting paper. The mold was of sufficient depth to produce a sheet-formed foam casting with a thickness of 5 mm.
[0066] The prepolymer Hypol 2001 (isocyanate terminated polyether) was added to the aqueous phase in an amount of 40% by weight in a dispensing and mixing device at room temperature. Immediately transfer the resulting mixture to a casting mold. Foam was foamed for 30 seconds and then the foam was cured for 10 minutes. After curing, the casting paper ...
Embodiment 2
[0067] Example 2: Absorption of Foam
[0068] Samples: foam product sample A produced in Example 1 and two commercially available products, sample B described in WO 2002062403 and sample C described in US5681575(A) and US5837275(A), were cut into 6× 6cm test pieces and weighed. Subsequently, the test piece was soaked in excess tap water. After three hours, the tablet was weighed again. The results obtained are shown in Table 1:
[0069] dry weight(g)
[0070] The results show that the product of Example 1 (Sample A) has as good or slightly better absorbency as the commercially available product.

Abstract
The present invention relates to a method of producing a hydrophilic polyurethane foam structure containing a silver salt, chosen from the group of silver sulphate, silver citrate, silver acetate, silver carbonate, silver lactate and silver phosphate, or a mixture of these salts. The method comprises the steps of (a) providing a water phase containing a surfactant, and at least one silver salt, wherein the at least one silver salt is dispersed in the water phase; (b) providing a isocyanate-terminated polyether having functionality of more than (2); (c) mixing said water phase and said isocyanate-terminated polyether, immediately transferring the resulting mixture to a mould whereby a foam structure is obtained; and (d) drying said foam structure until it has a moisture content of at most 10 % (wt). The invention also provides a hydrophilic polyurethane foam structure produced by the method and a wound dressing containing the foam structure.
Description
technical field [0001] The present invention relates to antimicrobial and hydrophilic polyurethane foam structures. More specifically, the antimicrobial and hydrophilic foam structures contain increased silver both in the polymer matrix and within the cells. In addition, the present invention also provides a method of manufacturing the antibacterial and hydrophilic foam structure. Background technique [0002] WO97 / 42985 discloses a wound dressing comprising an absorbent layer of foam comprising a pattern of cavities. The voids are open to the side of the foam that is adjacent to the skin of the wearer when the dressing is applied, and the foam layer is coated with a skin-adhering hydrophobic gel that is adjacent to the skin when the dressing is applied. Those end regions of the cavity walls in the foam material of the user's skin carry the gel. This document does not disclose about the inclusion of specific antimicrobial or antibacterial compounds in the dressing. [00...
