The router comprises an acquisition unit, a to-be-selected backup route selecting unit and a backup route configuration unit. According to the embodiment, the to-be-selected backup route with fewest nodes superposed with the forwarding path corresponding to the primary route is used as the current backup route when the current backup route is selected, so that when the forwarding path corresponding to the primary route fails, simultaneous failure of the primary and backup paths because the primary and backup paths have the superposed nodes can be furthest avoided, and security of the backup routes and guarantee of services are improved.
