The method comprises the following steps: firstly, before a main virtual machine is started, a main virtual machine image file on a source server is copied onto a backup server and then the virtual machine system is started; the system can start a source virtual machine to operate on a master server; a backup virtual machine is switched to a suspension state on a backup server and a synchronous engine is started in the background to carry out heartbeat monitoring, high-frequency thermomigration and synchronization of image files; and once the crash of the virtual machine on the master server is found, the backup virtual machine on the backup server is recovered to an operation state from the suspension state immediately so as to provide service outwards, therefore the high availability of the virtual machine is realized.
