Abstract

Methods and apparatus using liquid optically clear adhesives (LOCAs) are described herein. A method of detecting uncured LOCA between a first substrate and a second substrate is described. Additionally, an improved curing method for laminated stack-ups containing LOCA between a first substrate and a second substrate is described. The method includes a pre-cure method involving irradiation of different LOCAs. Additionally, an improved light emitting diode (LED) unit assembly for exposure of laminated stacks to ultraviolet (UV) light during pre-curing is described. A method of inspecting LED unit assemblies prior to the pre-curing process is described.

Description

technical field [0001] The embodiments generally relate to liquid adhesives for joining substrates. More specifically, improved methods for curing Liquid Optically Clear Adhesives (LOCA) between substrates are described. Background technique [0002] Displays and touch screens can consist of multiple substrates stacked in series, including items such as a liquid crystal display, one or more filters to correct light to and from the liquid crystal display, and to provide protection for the display components and allow for use Or provide a glass cover or lens to make the surface. In many cases, one or more of these substrates are bonded together using a liquid optically clear adhesive (LOCA). The use of LOCAs has become popular in the production of current-generation display applications, in part because LOCAs are easier to rework and have good gap-fill capabilities compared to adhesive tapes. [0003] Because LOCA is in liquid form, special care is required when applying it...
