The method comprises the following steps: a launcher and a video application program which needs to be upgraded together are associated in advance; after the launcher of the terminal reports the software version information of the launcher and the software version information of an associated video application program, a cloud server returns upgrade information to the terminal according to software version information; when the upgrade information is under forced upgrade, the terminal downloads an upgrade package to upgrade the launcher and the video application program; and when the upgrade information is under optional upgrade, the terminal downloads all upgrade packages and prompts a user to upgrade or give up upgrading according to the selection of the user.
