Hardware of the wide area measurement system includes an intelligent charger, an intelligent mobile phone, a database, a server, a communication base station and a GPS satellite. The wide area measurement system and method are mainly applied to a low voltage power distribution network system. The electrical parameters, capable of reflecting the problems such as voltage abnormality and harmonic pollution, such as voltage amplitude, harmonic content and the like of the operation of a low voltage power grid are measured and analyzed by utilizing a specially-designed mobile phone charger. When the intelligent mobile phone is charged, data is uploaded to a mobile phone APP by virtue of a USB. Meanwhile, measurement device clocks of the whole network are unified by utilizing the global positioning system (GPS), and the voltage parameter at each measurement point of the low voltage power grid is measured and uploaded in real time. The real-time data is uploaded to the server by utilizing the mobile phone APP so as to be further analyzed and researched in the server.
