Abstract

The invention discloses a method and apparatus for enabling a browser to access an IMS network, and a communication system. The method comprises the following steps: a signaling gateway performing protocol conversion processing and forwarding on an interaction message between the browser and the IMS network, and establishing a session between the browser and the IMS network, wherein the browser and the IMS network transceiving messages respectively by use of an expanded ROAP and an expanded SIP, the browser bears audio and video flows by use of an SRTP, and the IMS network bears the audio and video flows by use of an RTP; and a media gateway performing protocol conversion processing and forwarding on the audio and video flows. According to the method, the apparatus and the communication system, an access interface provided for the browser is an expanded ROAP with a simple Offer/Answer model, the signaling gateway and the media gateway are employed for commonly enabling the browser to access the IMS network, the signaling gateway and the media gateway interact by use of the ROAP for control, and a control interface is much simpler than a conventional one and can be well adapted to the mechanism of the browser.
