The method includes: receiving messages transmitted from transmitting ends to receiving ends and generating message identifiers; generating first bitmap data according to records of the receiving ends and storing the message identifiers and the first bitmap data; sending the messages to the receiving ends; receiving a message reading notification returned by the receiving ends and modifying the first bitmap data according to the message reading notification to acquire second bitmap data; according to the second bitmap data, returning message reading statuses to the transmitting ends. The reading statuses of the receiving ends are recorded by the aid of bitmaps, the record of the reading status of each receiving end is compressed to be 1bit, data storage space is greatly saved as compared to that one record occupies at least 16bits in the prior art, and problems about huge data write-in pressure and information storage pressure brought to a database is solved.
