A method of widening an earthquake data frequency band and an apparatus thereof are disclosed. The method comprises the following steps of step1, carrying out Fourier transform on time-domain single channel earthquake data and acquiring frequency-domain single channel earthquake data; step2, calculating an amplitude of the frequency-domain single channel earthquake data; step3, carrying out fitting and smoothing processing on the amplitude so as to acquire a fitting curve, and calculating a maximum value of the fitting curve; step4, based on the fitting curve and the maximum value of the fitting curve, calculating a single channel frequency expanding filtering operator; step5, in a frequency domain, based on the single channel frequency expanding filtering operator, calculating the frequency-domain single channel earthquake data after the frequency expanding; and step6, carrying out inverse Fourier transform on the frequency-domain single channel earthquake data after the frequency expanding. In the invention, simultaneous widening of a high frequency terminal and a low frequency terminal can be realized; through a frequency expanding control factor, frequency expanding can be effectively controlled, and an illusion and a high frequency noise are avoided.
