Embodiment Construction

[0025] In the following description, the invention will be explained with reference to various exemplary embodiments. These examples, however, are not intended to limit the invention to any particular example, environment, application, or particular implementation described herein. Accordingly, descriptions of these example embodiments are provided for purposes of illustration only and not limitation of the invention.

[0026] refer to figure 1 , showing the various components of the smart parking system. A smart parking lot monitoring system is disclosed in U.S. Patent Publication No. 2014 / 0214500A1 (which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety), which can be deployed to monitor the Entrance and exit. Such systems read the license plate of each vehicle entering and leaving the yard and determine the identity of the vehicle.

[0027] A smart parking system typically includes a kiosk 102 placed adjacent to a parking lot. The kiosk 102 is coupled to a door 104 ...

Abstract

A central computing system is configured to monitor quotas for multiple different classifications of vehicles that park in a parking facility. License plate reading (LPR) cameras read the license information of each vehicle entering and exiting a parking facility. The vehicle images or identifications are communicated to the central computing system which updates its database and monitors each virtual lot in the parking facility according to quotas, prices and other parameters for each corresponding class of vehicles. Control gates can be provided at entrances and exits to the parking facility. A parking kiosk can be provided to the parking facility that is networked with the central computing system.

Description

[0001] priority [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 199,149, filed July 30, 2015, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present invention relates generally to parking systems, and more particularly to virtual parking lots and the management of virtual parking lots. Background technique [0004] Traditional parking places (such as car parks) usually have no knowledge of vehicles. This means that every vehicle that enters the parking lot is counted the same way. Vehicles may continue to enter the yard until the net number of vehicles in the yard (total number of vehicles entering minus total number of vehicles leaving) reaches a certain total. [0005] Certain yards provide a means for admitting pass holders such that pass holders are counted independently from non-pass holders. Therefore, the parking lot may be closed to non-pass holders in order to reserve a given number of...
