The driving assistance system comprises a camera sensor, a processor and an executing mechanism, wherein the camera sensor is used for acquiring surrounding environment information of a vehicle and sending the surrounding environment information of the vehicle to the processor;the processor is used for controlling the vehicle to run at a running speed less than a target speed through the executing mechanism according to the surrounding environment information of the vehicle; the processor is further used for sending a lane keeping instruction to the executing mechanism when a steering instruction is not received and when the offset between a running path of the vehicleand a target path is greater than a preset offset; and the executing mechanism is used for controlling the running of the vehicle according to the lane keeping instruction, so that the offset betweenthe running path of the vehicle and the target path is not greater than the preset offset. The driving assistance method and system solve the problems of single function of the driving assistance system and relatively low running safety of the vehicle, and achieve the effects of enriching the function of the driving assistance system and improving the running safety of the vehicle.
