Abstract

The invention discloses a polarization-independent pulse amplitude modulation signal coherent receiving method and system, and relates to the field of optical access networks, and the method comprisesthe following steps: carrying out the bipolar precoding and polarization time coding of a pulse amplitude modulation PAM signal at a transmitting end, and obtaining two orthogonally polarized signals; and converting the two orthogonally polarized signals into two polarized optical signals, and coupling the two polarized optical signals to obtain a coupled optical signal; directly mixing the coupling optical signal with local oscillation light in an optical mixer, and converting by two balance detectors to obtain I and Q paths of current signals; converting the I and Q paths of current signalsinto digital signals and then carrying out digital signal processing to obtain synchronous receiving signals; performing channel equalization, polarization time decoding and bipolar decoding on the synchronous receiving signal so as to recover the PAM signal of the sending end.
