[0020] Embodiments described herein relate to a vehicle battery powered starter powered by a removable and rechargeable battery pack, such as those used with various hand-held power tools. The battery pack is removably connected to the vehicle battery starter. The battery pack, or multiple battery packs connected together, can be used to power the vehicle battery starter and start the vehicle battery on electricity. The battery pack may also optionally be used to charge a power boost module within the vehicle battery starter. The power boost module includes, for example, one or more energy storage devices, such as a plurality of ultracapacitors or lithium polymer battery cells. A power boost module combined with a removable and rechargeable battery pack can be used to start the vehicle battery on electricity.
