Problems solved by technology

[0017] In particular, since the compensation patterns 50 and 52 become complicated where the input / output terminals of the optical fiber are adjacent or where the obtuse angle effect occurs significantly, the optical path cannot be minimized, thus causing optical loss due to the difference in the optical path
In addition, as the number of channels of the optical module increases, it is difficult to form a compensation pattern, and even if the compensation pattern is used, the obtuse angle 45' part may be damaged, such as Image 6 As shown in the photo, it cannot meet the needs of miniaturization of optical components

Embodiment Construction

[0048] Figure 7 A partial sectional view showing the optical module of the present invention. refer to Figure 7 , the optical module includes one or more grooves with different depths in the substrate. The groove includes, for example, a V-groove 105 for mounting an optical fiber 100 on a substrate 101, a dimple 115 for mounting an optical component 110 such as a Green lens and a spherical lens on the substrate 101, and an adjuster ( holes not shown).

[0049] A first stopping hole 107 with a width smaller than that of the V-shaped groove 105 is formed between the V-shaped groove 105 and the dimple 115 . A second stopper hole 117 having a width smaller than that of the micropits 115 is formed between the micropits 115 and the holes 125 . The first stopper hole 107 and the second stopper hole 117 should be stably installed without moving the optical fiber 105 and optical components such as a Green lens and a spherical lens. Moreover, the V-shaped groove 105 , the dimple ...

Abstract

An optical module, in which one or more grooves on which a plurality of optical fibers or optical parts are mounted, are formed to different depths and a stopper hole is manufactured so as to prevent a convex corner phenomenon so that an optical axis is precisely aligned, and a method for manufacturing the same are provided. The method for manufacturing an optical module includes the steps of first etching to form one or more grooves on a first surface of a wafer, and second etching to form one or more stopper holes so that a second surface of the wafer is etched to penetrate the wafer. The optical module having one or more grooves for mounting one or more optical parts on a substrate, includes stopper holes which are formed by penetrating the bottom surface of the substrate to center a region which corresponds to a predetermined region among the grooves.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an optical module and its manufacturing method, in particular to such an optical module, in which there are one or more grooves of different depths formed, and a plurality of optical fibers or optical fibers are installed in the grooves. Components, and manufactured with a stopper hole (stopper hole), this stopper hole is to prevent obtuse angle phenomenon, so that the optical axis is adjusted accurately, and also relates to its manufacturing method. Background technique [0002] In recent years, with the increase of transmission data in the optical communication network, the transmission method in the optical communication system has been replaced by the wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) transmission method. Because the connection between networks is required in the WDM system, an optical crossing connector (OXC) or an optical module becomes a basic component. [0003] refer to Figure 1A , the optical module inc...
