Another downside is that the plunger sits at one end of the tube before eating food, and its handle sticks far out of the tube, making this design difficult for packaging and shipping

Embodiment Construction

[0057] Figure 1 shows a container for frozen foods such as ice cream. The container comprises a cylindrical body 1 . The main body 1 is tubular with a first opening 3 (hereinafter referred to as the nozzle) and a closed second opening 5 through which the ice cream is sucked from the container, the second opening 5 being closed by a piston 7 in use. A large part of the body 1 has substantially the same cross-section.

[0058] The piston 7 comprises a substantially cylindrical hollow body defined by a guide 7a and a side edge 7b resting on it. Thus the piston 7 is closed at one end and opened at the other end. Preferably, the upper surface of the guide 7a is rounded to ensure that when the piston 7 is close to the nozzle 3, almost all the ice cream will be pushed out of the main body 1 . Alternatively, the guide 7a is substantially planar. Piston 7 ensures that the food is almost completely dispensed from the body. If there is no piston 7, the food in the middle part of the...

Abstract

A container for foods. The container includes a hollow body (1) having an opening (3) and a piston (7) located within the body (1), wherein the container is constructed and arranged such that, in use, the piston (7) moves within the body (1) in response to a consumer sucking the food from the container via the opening (3). The container can be used to store solid and semi-solid foods such as ice-cream and yoghurt type products. The container is arranged such that the food can be consumed directly from the container, without the need for a spoon or a dispensing device.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to food containers, in particular to containers for frozen and semi-frozen foods such as ice cream and yogurt. Background technique [0002] The packaging of single-serve frozen and semi-frozen foods (such as ice cream and yogurt products) is usually divided into two types: the first type of packaging is designed so that consumers can easily open the container and eat the food directly from it, and the second type Packages are designed for use with dispensers to dispense food into meal prep containers such as plates or cones. If the second type of container is used, it is difficult for the consumer to take out the food without using the dispenser. [0003] The present invention relates to a first type of container from which the food product can be eaten directly. [0004] It is well known that single servings of frozen / semi-frozen food products can be packaged in films of plastic material or in paper wrappers that can b...
