Abstract

An air bag system of the invention includes an air bag having a discharge port which discharges part of inflation gas when it opens and an opening and closing control unit which enables the control ofopening and closing of the discharge port. The air bag includes a bag main body, a discharge portion provided in the bag main body, and a connecting member which is provided within the bag main bodyand which is connected to the discharge portion on a bottom portion side thereof and connected to the opening and closing control unit on a tip end side thereof. The discharge portion is withdrawn into the bag main body by the connecting member with the connection of the connecting member with the opening and closing control unit maintained, so as to maintain the discharge port in a closed state, while with the connection of the connecting member with the opening and closing control unit canceled, the discharge portion is made to protrude from the bag main body, so as to open the discharge port.

Description

technical field

[0001] The present invention relates to an airbag system comprising an airbag adapted to be inflated from a stored folded state by injecting inflation gas thereinto, and the airbag is configured to reduce internal pressure generated when the airbag is inflated in the above-mentioned manner. Background technique

[0002] In some conventional air bag systems, a discharge port is formed in the air bag through which a part of the inflation gas can be discharged, and thus, the release is controlled by the opening and closing control unit according to the seating position of the occupant seated on the seat and his or her body shape. The opening and closing of the air port suppresses the internal pressure generated when the airbag is inflated (see, for example, US Patent No. 6,648,371).

[0003] However, in a conventional airbag system, a structure is adopted in which a substantially circular opening is provided in the peripheral wall constituting the airbag, and a ...

Embodiment Construction

[0046] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described based on the drawings. Figure 1 to Figure 12 A steering airbag system M1 of a first embodiment of the present invention is shown.

[0047] In the first embodiment, unless otherwise mentioned, the front-rear, up-down, and left-right directions are based on the position of the steering wheel W mounted on the vehicle when the steering wheel is manipulated to drive the vehicle straight ahead, and the steering along the assembled steering wheel W. Shaft SS (see image 3 , Figure 4 The up-and-down direction of the axis of the double-dotted line in ) is regarded as the vertical direction, the front-rear direction of the vehicle is the direction intersecting the SS axis of the steering shaft at right angles as the longitudinal direction, and the left-right direction of the vehicle is the direction intersecting the SS axis of the steering shaft at right angles Considered as transverse, the longitudinal, vert...
