The group delay of a filter is the time during which propagating light is additionally turned off in the filter. FIG. 1 is a graph showing an example of the relationship between the transmittance of an optical filter with respect to an optical wavelength and the group delay GD. As shown in Figure 1, the group delay GD of a filter can be calculated by differentiating the propagation constant with the angular frequency and multiplying it by the propagation distance. For example, in FIG. 1 , when the abscissa indicates wavelength, it can be seen from FIG. 1 that group delay occurs in accordance with the degree of change in the transmittance of the filter.
