Abstract

The invention relates to an application of a compound (I), with the chemical name of 20-(S)-protopanoxadiol-3-[O-beta-D-glucopyranose (1->2)-beta-D-glucopyranose]-20-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside, in preparing a medicament for improving atherosclerosis. Experiment results show that, at the beginning of building an atherosclerosis model generated by high-fat feeding of ApoE gene knockout mice, by preventively administrating the compound (I), an aortic plaque area can be reduced, macrophages in blood are restrained from absorbing lipid, and the bubbling process of the macrophages is restrained so as to reverse and delay formation of atherosclerosis induced by hyperlipidemia. The compound (I) can be prepared into oral or injection formulations and can be compounded with other medicaments for preparing a compound preparation, and when the preparation is made, the preparation comprises the compound (I) and a carrier or an excipient which are pharmaceutically acceptable.
