Problems solved by technology

[0013] The fact that the bone also grows into the extension makes it more difficult to remove the primary implant components from the bone
Since not all of these areas are easily accessible without extensive resection of the bone, severing these connections can be extremely cumbersome

Abstract

The invention discloses a joint prosthesis system, which is suitable for bone cement fixation. The system has two metallic implant components and a support. One of the metallic implant components has an articulating surface for articulating the bearing. Another metallic implant component has a mounting surface for supporting the bearing. One of the metal implant components includes an extension having an exposed outer surface, such as a bone stem or a bone nail. The metal implant component from which the extension protrudes comprises titanium, and the exposed outer surface of the extension comprises a different form of titanium. The invention also discloses a method for preparing the joint prosthesis.
