Problems solved by technology

However, increased dwell time directly reduces the maximum achievable fluid handling rate
It is possible to solve this problem by increasing the size of the IGF components, but this is not desired due to the space available in traditional production environments

Embodiment Construction

[0086] First refer to the graphic figure 1 and figure 2 , wherein there is shown a cross-sectional view of a fluid handling apparatus, generally indicated by reference numeral 10 , according to an embodiment of the present invention. device 10 in figure 1 Expressed in longitudinal cross-section in figure 2 Shown in transverse cross-section. Fluid handling apparatus 10 may be used in a number of applications. However, in this embodiment, the apparatus 10 is used to treat water produced from subterranean reservoirs, including oil and gas. As described further below, apparatus 10 is adapted to separate oil and gas from produced water by flotation separation. Device 10 may thus be described as a compact flotation unit (CFU).

[0087] Apparatus 10 includes a vertically arranged generally cylindrical container that defines a first or upper fluid chamber 14 and a second or lower fluid chamber 16 . The upper and lower fluid chambers are separated by a partition 18 fastened to...

Abstract

A fluid treatment apparatus (10) comprises a fluid vessel (12) having first and second fluid chambers (14, 16). A fluid inlet (26) is provided for delivering a fluid to be treated into the first fluid chamber (14). At least one nozzle assembly (34) is arranged between the first and second chambers (14, 16) to providing fluid communication from the first fluid chamber (14) to the second fluid chamber (16), wherein said nozzle assembly (34) is adapted to facilitate mixing of a gas with said fluid.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to fluid treatment apparatus, and more particularly, but not exclusively, to an apparatus for treating water produced from subterranean hydrocarbon-bearing formations. The invention also relates to a method of treating a fluid. Background technique [0002] The fluid produced from the underground storage tank is usually a mixture of oil, water, gas, usually mixed with a certain amount of sediment. During the early stages of production, the fluid may be "dry", ie contain little or no water, but as production continues, generally larger amounts of water are produced. In mature fields, the proportion of water in the resulting fluid can reach 90%, and may be around 95%. Reservoirs do not always produce large amounts of silt, but when they do, silt production usually increases with water production. The water produced from the reservoir is denoted by the term "produced water". [0003] Produced water may be sprayed back int...
