The screen sharing method comprises the following steps: a MRCP (Media Renderer Control Point) obtains metadata information of a media item which is played by a DMP (Digital Media Player), and sends the metadata information to a designated DMR (Digital Media Renderer) of a user to perform capability matching; after the DMR successfully completes capability matching, the MRCP obtains the playing position of the DMP; and the MRCP allows the DMR to jump to the playing position for playing the media item. By adopting the method and system, sharing of a playing screen and playing characteristics among different DLNA terminals can be realized so as to provide user experience.
