A user inputs a plurality of points of interest into a service platform so that the service platform generates itinerary planning information including time and expenditure information, a navigation device downloads the itinerary planning information from the service platform so as to realize a navigation function, location and time information of the navigation device is compared with the itinerary planning information when the navigation function is actuated, and the itinerary planning information is automatically corrected according to the location and time information of the navigation device or the user. After a trip is completed, an itinerary route is provided by the service platform according to the location and time information of the navigation device and the points of interest, and the user can edit the itinerary route. Accordingly, the itinerary planning system and the method can assist the user to plan itinerary meeting requirements before the trip, the itinerary can be flexibly changed during the trip, and the itinerary planning system realizes a travelogue edition function for the user after the trip.
