Embodiment Construction

[0030] The present invention relates to controlling the powertrain of a hybrid vehicle. Hybrid vehicles can include Figure 1 to Figure 3 Engine and motor shown. The engine can be operated with or without a crankshaft integrated starter / generator (CISG) during vehicle operation. Furthermore, the CISG can be operated whether or not the engine is operated. During selected engine-off conditions, when the engine is shut off and the clutch connecting the engine to the rest of the vehicle drivetrain is released, the engine speed response and / or the electric motor speed response after clutch release relative to their respective The deviation from the expected value is used to obtain the engine torque estimation error. The engine controller may be configured to execute a control routine (such as Figure 4 to Figure 6 Exemplary procedure for ) to obtain torque deviation based on engine speed profile deviation, engine deceleration profile deviation, etc. or a speed-based window over...

Abstract

The present invention provides systems and methods for obtaining torque estimation errors and updating torque estimation models. In one example, a torque error is obtained during engine stall after a disconnect clutch connected between the engine and the electric machine is released. Then, during subsequent engine operation, the updated torque estimation model is used to control torque to improve drive feel and vehicle performance.

Description

[0001] Related Application Cross Reference [0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 61 / 642,849, filed May 4, 2012, the contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference technical field [0003] The present invention relates to systems and methods for improving drivability and fuel economy of vehicles. The method is particularly effective for engines selectively connected to electric machines and transmissions. Background technique [0004] Hybrid vehicles potentially offer superior fuel economy and vehicle range over non-hybrid vehicles. One example of a hybrid vehicle includes an engine selectively connected to an electric machine and a transmission depending on vehicle operating conditions. The engine is selectively connectable to the electric machine and transmission via electrically or hydraulically actuated disconnect clutches. The disconnect clutch allows the electric motor to provide torque to the wheels during low t...
