The method comprises: establishing a configuration base, a rule base, and a benchmark test case base according to a rule of the DB2 database; obtaining a configuration parameter of the configuration base according to a category in the configuration base; selecting a running benchmark test case from the benchmark test case base; setting a parameter value according to the rule base, and forming a configuration parameter combination according to a permutation and combination strategy; modifying a DB2 database startup configuration file according to each configuration parameter combination, and running the benchmark testing case, to obtain a test result of each configuration parameter combination, and performing analysis by using the test result of each configuration parameter combination according to work load corresponding to each configuration parameter combination, to obtain an analysis result; and obtaining an optimized configuration parameter combination of the DB2 database according to the analysis result. According to the automatic optimization configuration method, the configuration difficulty can be reduced.
