[0054] In fractal geometry, yardstick method and covering method are the most commonly used dimension calculation methods. For complex irregular curves, it is easy to directly estimate its fractal dimension by yardstick method. As for the surface of the river bed, it is impossible to directly measure the surface of the river bed with a two-dimensional Euclidean geometry with a certain scale, such as a circle, a square, and a triangle, so an indirect method of measurement has to be used. The yardstick method applied to the estimation of the fractal dimension of the riverbed surface is the surface area-scale method, which has its own name because of the different methods for estimating the specific surface area.
