Abstract

The invention provides a method for generating position mark information, belonging to the technical field of multimedia. The method comprises the steps of receiving progress operation information reported by n video clients and generating the position mark information according to operation time carried in the progress operation information, wherein the position mark information is used for marking at least one of a mark title end position, a film end initial position and a highlight position; and storing the position mark information of a target video. The position mark information is automatically determined according to operation behaviors of multiple users on the play progress of the target video, and a maintainer does not need to determine and manually upload the position mark information of each target video, so that a lot of manpower resources and time are saved; the accuracy rate of the position mark information obtained on the basis of statistics of the multiple users on the progress operation information is high; and the influence of a single user preference on the accuracy of the position mark information is eliminated.
