Abstract

A method for operating a communications controller adapted for full duplex (FD) operation includes receiving a measurement report from a user equipment served by the communications controller, the measurement report indicating a first power margin between a current transmit power and a transmit power break point and a second power margin between the current transmit power and a maximum transmit power capable of supporting FD operation, performing FD link adaptation (LA) in accordance with the first power margin and the second power margin to adjust one or more FD configuration parameters of alink between the communications controller and the user equipment, wherein the link includes a downlink and an uplink, and instructing the user equipment to communicate over the link in accordance with the one or more FD configuration parameters.
